There is a special bond between young daughters and their fathers. Over the years, that connection has been recognized at father-daughter dances, special events that allow girls to be in the spotlight and for proud dads to be heroes.
The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department has brought back the father-daughter dance as part of a lineup of special events. More than 300 fathers and daughters recently enjoyed a dance with a Disney theme at the Arena Building.
There were princesses everywhere.
And fathers, no matter what they chose to wear, were knights in shining armor for the festivities.
Hats off to the parks and rec folks for bringing back a popular event that helps strengthen family relationships.
Hats off to the fathers in attendance for making this special effort.
And hats off to all the daughters who enjoyed a wonderful opportunity for playing dress-up on a special occasion when every young princess was the most beautiful girl in the crowd.
