To the editor:
I was blessed after reading Joe Sullivan's column, "The power of prayer." I grew up in McClure, Ill., on a family farm from birth in 1951 through 1974.
By God's will, I grew up in a Christian home that gave my parents the basis for establishing fundamental truths to live our lives. I have lived in Colorado Springs, since 1974, but I still miss my home in Illinois. That's why I frequently read the Southeast Missourian online to stay in touch.
How often would you think our Colorado Springs newspaper columns would be written about prayer as our communication link with our Savior who within his will can grant miracles even today? Not once since I have lived here.
May I encourage Sullivan to continue bringing these fundamental Christian life messages to the public forefront.
One final thought:
I followed the new Cape Girardeau bridge construction and the somewhat sad destruction of the old bridge I learned to drive on. The old bridge was an integral part of driver's ed at Shawnee High School. I'm sure the communities are benefiting greatly from the improved bridge.
Coincidentally my father, Homer Miller, was instrumental in the process of making the old bridge a free one. He represented Alexander County in part of the process.
Thanks again, and I look forward to reading more of Sullivan's columns.
