Everyone has their favorite Christmas traditions. However, if you're looking for a new way to celebrate this Christmas, check out the holiday favorite "A Christmas Carol" to be performed by local actors from Project Stage Light.

The actors, all of whom are VIP employees, will perform the original Charles Dickens production with the help of VIP staff and a simplified script.

Project Stage Light is a program offered by the Association for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (AID). The program offers individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to experience the art of acting -- a fun activity that results in other developmental benefits for the actors.

AID also provides other activities for these individuals such as camping, hiking and other nature activities -- all of which are great tools in improving the participants' social skills.

This Christmas, consider supporting the group by attending their production on Dec. 11 at Shuck Recital Hall on the River Campus.

This is also an opportune time to become involved with the organization as a volunteer.

Consider giving a gift this Christmas season that keeps on giving.
