To the editor: In response to the article "Kiwanis look for park to call their own": It appears that money is getting in the way of heritage that should be preserved. Cherokee Park was named for a proud tribe. Now the white man is trying to take a little of their history...

To the editor:

In response to the article "Kiwanis look for park to call their own": It appears that money is getting in the way of heritage that should be preserved. Cherokee Park was named for a proud tribe. Now the white man is trying to take a little of their history.

Has anyone looked into the reason why the park was named Cherokee Park? I would like the paper to write an article on how the land was acquired for the park. You will most likely find some interesting history. Let the Cherokee Park name stand forever. If the park could be put on the list of historical landmarks, then it should be done.

As for skateboards, I see lawsuits against the city if a skateboard park is established.
