A better Jackson

Jack Litzelfelner has left his mark on Jackson in positive ways for many years. This year, at the Jackson Chamber of Commerce/Jackson Industrial Development Authority banquet, Litzelfelner was honored with the R.A. Fulenwider Meritorious Community Service Award in recognition of his many accomplishments that have helped make Jackson a better place to live, work and play.

Bent Creek Golf Golf Course, opened in 1990 by Litzelfelner, has given Jackson statewide and national exposure. He also has developed senior citizen housing, subdivisions and apartments while involved with the First Presbyterian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Optimist Club. He also donated land for a city park. His current project is a new ball field that has the support of his longtime friend, Hall of Famer Whitey Herzog.

Also at the banquet, Procter & Gamble was named Industry of the Year. More than a third of the plant's work force lives in Jackson. Koehler Bookkeeping and Ross Furniture each received Small Business of the Year honors. And Julie Rush, a consultant with Arbonne International, was recognized as Ambassador of the Year.

Hats off to all the award winners for all they contribute to finding ways to improve Jackson in so many ways.
