Derby, 45, died June 30, 1997. She was born July 21, 1951, daughter of Joe and Carlyn Schlegel Welch. The parents survive.

Other survivors are two sons, Jeremy Paul Wallace of Mobile, Ala., and Joshua Shawn Wallace of Pensacola, Fla.; and a brother, Randy Welch of Cullman.
