CAIRO, Ill. -- John H. Ryan, 85, of Cairo, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1992 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was the owner of the Plaza Hotel in Cairo before his retirement. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors are his wife, Helen T. Ryan of Cairo; and a step-son, Jack H. Groce of Wickliffe, Ky.
Private funeral services will be held Monday at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. Burial will follow in the Mound City Cemetery.
