Desta Almeda Strickland, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, April 14, 1997, at Heartland Care and Rehab Center. She was born May 27, 1922, at Menfro, daughter of Ira N. and Gertrude Sandlin Clifton. She and Carey Strickland were married in 1962 in Sugarland, Texas. He died in 1995...

Desta Almeda Strickland, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, April 14, 1997, at Heartland Care and Rehab Center.

She was born May 27, 1922, at Menfro, daughter of Ira N. and Gertrude Sandlin Clifton. She and Carey Strickland were married in 1962 in Sugarland, Texas. He died in 1995.

Strickland had been a nurse aide.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Strong of Crestwood.

She was preceded in death by a sister.

There is no visitation or service.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
