Perry County Memorial Hospital

Perry County Memorial Hospital at 434 N. West Street in Perryville was opened April 16, 1951, after the Perry County Farm Bureau began a fundraising movement in 1945 and raised $600,000 for a much-needed medical facility. In 1990 the hospital underwent a $3 million renovation project and added 40,000 square feet financed by revenue bonds.

Today it is a 25-bed critical access facility. Perry County Memorial Hospital's mission is to be the first choice of quality healthcare for the community it serves. It is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and is staffed by multispecialty teams of skilled physicians, nurses and technicians, representing a vast number of medical and surgical specialties.

To provide special needs and maximize patient convenience, Perry County Memorial Hospital calls in consulting specialists on a regular basis, saving patients the long distance travel to see these physicians.

Services include in-patient hospital care, ambulatory (one-day) surgery, diagnostic imaging services, pulmonary testing, outpatient care, a retail pharmacy, gerontology support, a social services department, physical therapy, occupational medicine, respiratory therapy, and home health assistance.

An occupational health service provides clinical and educational services to business and industry through the offering of physicals, rehabilitation, wellness programs and screenings and work environment analysis.

A maternity unit features labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care with state-of-the-art equipment, along with prenatal, sibling and epidural classes. The emergency care department is fully supported by X-ray, laboratory and cardiopulmonary services. Trained paramedics and EMTs provide 24-hour ambulance coverage and a helicopter pad furnishes critically injured patients fast access to sub-specialized regional services.

State-of-the-art technology includes testing for bone density, open-type MRI, CT scans, nuclear medicine, MUGA scans, dedicated mammography, ultrasound, laboratory procedures, outpatient surgery and laparoscopic surgery.
