The annual Old McKendree Day will be at 3 p.m. today at Old McKendree Chapel. The Rev. Fred Leist, superintendent of the Southeast District of the United Methodist Church, will be guest speaker on the topic of "Heritage and Horizon." The Wild West Show at the Lazy L Safari Park in Cape Girardeau will be at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. today. Festus the Horse, Ruby the Zebu and Pecos the Water Buffalo will be among the animal performers, and children will be able to play horseshoes and rope the dummy steer in the Kiddie Corral. The Community Counseling Center Foundation will hold its 14th annual benefit golf tournament at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 4. The tournament will be an 18-hole, four-person scramble at the Cape Girardeau Country Club. The tournament fee is $125 per player and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch and beverages. Lunch is at 11:30 a.m. with tee times at 12:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in this flighted tournament, and corporate sponsors will receive special recognition and be able to enter team players. Proceeds will go to the Community Counseling Center Foundation to support the treatment of mental illness. The 40th annual Kenny Rogers Children's Center charity walk will be Oct. 5 at the First Assembly of God Recreational Complex, 1219 N. Ingram Road in Sikeston, Mo. The Swinton Christian Church will hold its annual reunion at noon Oct. 6. The reunion will feature a basket dinner and sermon by the Rev. Gary Cooper. Former members, families and residents of the town are invited to the reunion. The Swinton Christian Church is located on Route U in Whitewater, Mo.
