Some might say the days of the grace and charm of the Old South are forever gone, but the house at 190 Scenic View in Cedar Hill Lake Estates proves that grace and charm are alive and well.

This stately two-story brick house is very reminiscent of the old plantation homes, regal as it sits atop a hill with a calming view of a shining lake. It has the majestic columns at its entrance, and more than 3,500 square feet of beautifully designed home inside. With five acres, it has a manor-like setting and a beautiful heated in-ground pool with an automatic cover and fiber optic lighting at its rear.

Lovely double French doors at the entrance are adorned with a Palladian window above. The foyer features marble floors and a 30-foot ceiling.

To the left of the foyer is a formal dining room with beautiful bay windows and a stylish opaque glass and brass pendulum lighting fixture. Custom draperies perfectly frame the handsome windows.

To the right of the foyer is a formal dining room with 9-foot ceiling and French doors that lead to the family room. The family room has a spectacularly expansive window that overlooks the back yard and swimming pool. The family room also features maple hardwood floors and a beautifully classic gas log fireplace with marble facing and white mantle. Custom white bookshelves and an entertainment center flank the fireplace.

The kitchen has Italian marble style flooring and light maple cabinetry, including a kitchen island with built-in wine rack. White appliances, including a built-in smoothtop range, microwave, double oven, dishwasher and side-by-side refrigerator give the kitchen a fresh, clean and airy look. A beautiful Palladian window catches the light at the apex of the kitchen, and an open soffit above the cabinetry offers the perfect place for displaying collectibles or fine china. The kitchen also includes a built-in desk and communications area and a generous pantry.

Also on the main floor is the master bedroom suite, with a large picture window at its rear and French-style sliding doors to the patio and pool area. The master bathroom has Italian marble tile floors and a rich cherry wood double sink vanity. A cherry framed mirror travels the length of the vanity. A luxurious garden style whirlpool bathtub in the master bath, along with with a gas-log fireplace and waterfall faucet are amenities to this master bath. A separate toilet area and walk-in shower with a double shower seat at each end are also opulent luxuries. The suite also has a large and well-organized walk-in closet and a linen closet.

A main level laundry room uses the maple cabinetry, and a deep sink for hand washables is in close proximity to the kitchen. An exit is to the three-car garage and a second staircase that goes to the upstairs bedrooms is nearby.

The primary staircase is an elegant work in oak and white with a floral runner drawing the eye upward. Each of the upstairs bedrooms has storybook dormer windows and beautiful wall colors. One is hydrangea blue, one is light blue and one is a buttery yellow. Each has large windows for an abundance of natural light and each has been cleverly placed next to a bathroom. A Jack and Jill bathroom has been placed between two of them. With at least five bedrooms in this home, there is plenty of room for even large families.

This home also has a large walk-out basement with 9-foot ceilings. Though it is not yet finished, it has roughed-in plumbing for a bathroom and wet bar. It also has a convenient entryway and storage area for garden and lawn equipment. The downstairs has plenty of space for a family room, game room, exercise room and additional bedrooms.
