Once again, I am humbled by the generosity and support of the Cape Girardeau community and surrounding area. With your help, over 6000 toys were loaded on the "sleigh" and 418 families were delivered Christmas joy by "Santa" this week. The 2011 Jaycee Toybox and Christmas for the Elderly were a success thanks to the generosity of so many. Tears of appreciation, cookies and drawings for Santa, and children jumping with excitement as they hear the "HO HO HO" outside the front door; every year we add to our list of stories that represent what these projects are all about, stories of blessings, happiness, and the spirit of the holiday. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to spread your gifts to the children and elderly in our community!
I would like to express appreciation to George Davis of Davis Glass Company, the Salvation Army for their continued efforts in helping us implement our programs, Howard Kinder for more than 30 years of service to keeping our Santas on the right route, Jeff Maurer of Rhodes 101 and Doctors' Express, Dominoes Pizza, Schnucks, Bluff City Beer, and River Eagle. Additionally, I thank Cape Auto Pool for supplying us with "Sleighs" for delivery, Rental Land Special Events, the River City Rodders for their continued generosity, Notre Dame High School for hosting our largest toy drive in the area, Central Junior High School, Central Middle School, and Alma Schrader. We appreciate the support of Kidd's Convienence Stores, Bi-state, and Amerimart for allowing us to start a new tradition with our dollar drive at their local stores, all the businesses around town that allow us to place collection boxes in their establishments, the Southeast Misssourian for their continued partnership, and the wonderful people in our community who year after year give so generously to these projects. If I have forgotten anyone, I apologize, there are so many who make this endeavor possible for our organization.
Merry Christmas and may you have a happy and healthy new year!
