It's easy to complain that Southeast Missouri is culturally lacking. It's a whole other matter to put your money where your mouth is.

For the price of one typical concert ticket in St. Louis or Memphis, Cape Girardeau Community Concert Association members can enjoy six cultural concerts throughout the year. Adult membership is $30 with family memberships priced at $65.

It is an entertainment bargain that will bring members an internationally known flute and guitar duo, a ragtime review, a comedian pianist, a troupe of Russian musicians, a concert marimba virtuoso, and a musical group that moves from Civil War fife and drum music to vaudeville.

But the bargain doesn't stop there. Memberships can be exchanged with community concerts at Carbondale, Paducah, Poplar Bluff, Perryville, Sikeston and Malden or Union City, Tenn.

The membership drive will run next Monday through Friday. The campaign headquarters will be at 1017 Independence.
