Letter to the Editor

U.S. legislators think mostly about themselves

To the editor:

It seems that instead of calling our elected officials "representatives" or "senators," we should just call them "politicians." How can we call people who throw away our tax dollars so thoughtlessly our federal representatives? They represent themselves. What has been allowed is certainly bad enough, but to allow a $21 billion increase in pork is an unconscionable act.

It is very apparent that the majority favors and votes for these vote-buying projects -- and to hell with the taxpayers or budget. Can this be changed without changing politicians?

Pork is pork no matter who it goes to. And to think our politicians saw fit to vote for a $21 billion increase in pork tied to a budget to fight Saddam Hussein and support national security. Then they ask us for money so they can do this again and again. Are we stupid?
