MILWAUKEE -- The Cardinals said closer Jason Isringhausen will have season-ending surgery on his left hip on Thursday.
Isringhausen, who did not travel with the team to Milwaukee, made the decision Tuesday after extensive consultation with several hip specialists. The surgery will be performed by Dr. J. Thomas Byrd in Nashville, Tenn.
Isringhausen went 4-8 with a 3.55 ERA and 33 saves this season. He last pitched Sept. 6 at Washington when he logged his career-high 10th blown save.
