POPLAR BLUFF -- Mark Barousse, a former assistant football coach at Poplar Bluff High School, was hired on Thursday as the Mules' new head football coach for the 1997 season.
Barousse served as a Poplar Bluff assistant from 1988-90. He most recently has been an assistant at Ball High School in Galveston, Texas.
Barousse replaces Tony Roth, whose contract was not renewed in December after four seasons and a 25-17 overall record. The Mules went 4-6 last year.
