BRIEFLY: NOTRE DAME GRADUATE RUBEL EARNS MAJOR ACADEMIC HONOR

Notre Dame High School graduate Matt Rubel completed his college basketball career at Maryville University in St. Louis by earning a major academic honor.

Rubel was named to the GTE Academic All-American Third Team for maintaining a 3.76 grade-point average in physical therapy while playing guard for the Division III Saints.

Rubel was Maryville's leading scorer this year, averaging 13.9 points per game, as he was named to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference all-league second team.
