In reply to Ted LeGrand's July 25 op-ed column, I would like to politely disagree. Both conservatives and liberals may be found in the Republican and Democratic parties, both of which have had ample opportunity to lead our nation back to limited, constitutional government. Both have failed miserably.
I contend both are equally responsible for the mess our country is in, and both are leading us to bigger, more intrusive government and on a slick slide to socialism.
Mr. LeGrand said a vote for a third party is a wasted vote. I say continuing to vote for a candidate who won't uphold your values is indeed a wasted vote.
I have been a lifelong supporter of the Republican Party (70 years) but never have been active, except to complain around the kitchen table and going to vote. I can no longer continue to do that. My solution has been to find another venue that I believe will accomplish the task of putting the reins of government back into the hands of the people. That venue is the Constitution Party.
It will take more than just being conservative to accomplish this. People will have to become constitutionalist. We would rather die on our feet than to live on our knees. I encourage all citizens who are concerned about the direction our country is headed to investigate this all-American political party at www.constitutionpartymo.org.
