Dear Editor:

On the 5th of June, I had the distinct pleasure of attending the opening concert of the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band. The wonderful performance began with a dedication to all Desert Shield/Desert Storm returnees. Having participated in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm, I am continually impressed and honored by the attention given by the citizens of our great country. I would make one addition, however, and honor the Vietnam vets as well. Thank you "Muny Band" for including the military in your concert season.

Cape Girardeau is very privileged to have an asset like the Municipal Band. In this day, far too many traditional organizations, over time, tend to fade away. It is refreshing to see and hear this band, now in its 65th year, produce such a fine product with an excellent blend of both young and experienced musicians. It is also a tribute to Cape Girardeau for the dedicated support it's given over all these years. This band is just another reason Cape is a great place to live and work.

From all military members, thank you for your support during the war.
