To the Editor:

The Pulaski-Alexander Farm Bureau supports the Pulaski County E 9-1-1 Referendum. Members of our Local Affairs Committee, chaired by Robert Inman of Grand Chain, have been actively working with the local ambulance service, police departments and fire departments to promote E 9-1-1.

Pulaski County citizens will be voting on an enhanced 9-1-1 system. This type of system is much advanced over 9-1-1. An enhanced system provides the dispatcher with immediate information, such as address, medical problems, gas hook-up locations, etc. In fact, the dispatcher will know this if the caller cannot speak.

In Pulaski County there are approximately 2,200 billable phone lines. This low number of lines is the main reason our referendum is set at ~$3 per month per billable line. You can have the E 9-1-1 protection for approximately 10 cents per day.

The Pulaski-Alexander Farm Bureau, through two member Viewpoint Meetings, has determined that our members support E 9-1-1. We urge our members and other voters to vote yes on E 9-1-1 Referendum by punching #222 on the ballot.

The Board of Directors also wishes to express interest in cooperating with groups or individuals in Alexander County to promote the establishment of E 9-1-1 in the county.
