To the Editor:
When is enough, enough. The old saying says, Nothing is certain but death and taxes. Part of that old saying isn't necessarily true. In November, you will have the chance to decide if you want to pay more taxes.
Our legislators have already voted for higher taxes. Now they will try to say they are letting us decide but if you buy that, I've got some swamp land in Louisiana I'll sell you.
Here's some reasons to vote no in November:
1) We have already been told this new proposed taxes will not be enough. do you want to pay more taxes now and have our legislators ask for more later?
2) Throwing more money in the form of new taxes will not solve the problem. For example look at the new taxes that were implemented to solve our deficit, have you heard the latest deficit estimates?
3) Can you afford to pay more taxes? Do you want to give more of your hard earned dollars to the state coffers?
4) A tax increase doesn't make any sense in an economy trying to recover from recession. Does it take a smart person to realize a recession is not the time to even talk about raising taxes?
5) Do you want to make someone's wish list come true? Let's wake up and realize we can't always have what we want and we can sound a worthy cause nearly any time. All takes is to dig deeper and pay more taxes.
Folks I say when is enough, enough!! Don't just vote no in November but give our fine legislators an invitation to stay at home because we are sending new people to replace them in 1992.
