A couple of weeks ago on a Saturday morning, I took my 7-year-old special-needs son to Plaza Barber Shop on Independence Street for a routine haircut. It was anything but routine. Another man arrived the same time we did. One barber took the man named Lyle, and the other barber took my son, Gabe.

The barber attending to Gabe was very patient and understanding. To pass the time, we discussed Gabe's past medical history, his likes and dislikes and school. All this time, Gabe was squirming and trying to get out of the barber chair. It was quite challenging for me to keep him in the chair while the barber did his job.

After the barber was finished with Gabe's haircut, he announced that the man named Lyle sitting in the chair next to us paid for our haircut. I was brought to tears. I would like to publicly thank this stranger named Lyle for his random act of kindness. God bless you.
