Residents know Cape Girardeau is a great place to live and do business.
Now many business investors and plant-site specialists around the nation are likely to get a positive view of our city, thanks to a survey by KPMG, one of the world's largest accounting and consulting firms.
After 10 months of analyzing 1,000 business scenarios and 30,000 bits of information, the firm decided Cape Girardeau was the second most economical place to do business in the Midwestern United States.
Sioux Falls, S.D., came in at No. 1, but Cape Girardeau's location, climate, history and existing business base surely make it attractive to potential investors and industries looking for plant locations.
The survey compared 86 cities across nine industrialized nations. It encourages cities to think globally.
Thanks to the KPMG survey, someone from somewhere else in the world surely will discover the terrific things about Cape Girardeau that we who are here already have known for a long time.
