I WOULD LIKE to thank the First Baptist Church on Broadway for their Thanksgiving dinner Sunday, Nov. 24, and each one for their support in preparing the dinner. A big thank you to all of you.
I WOULD LIKE to express my thanks to a true friend that helped me when I was down and out. My dear friend, this world will be much better with people like you in it. Thank you so much for your kindness, your love and support.
I COMPLETELY AGREE with the lady who wrote the article in Friday's paper. Why deny any child an opportunity to show what they can do instead of who they are and where they attend? Thank you.
I WOULD LIKE to address the people whose articles appeared in Speak Out concerning the Jimmy Swaggart ministries. I have been to Baton Rouge to visit this ministry many times, and I can assure you this multi-million dollar ministry has not been built by the support of poor people. This man has sold over 14 million albums, plus he has written many books. This revenue has paid for the grounds, buildings, and salaries. The donations from people pay for food and medical supplies for needy people and TV air time only. You may be interested to know there are two men in this church who at each camp meeting, which is three times a year, give $100,000 and $200,000 each, and there are many others who give very generously. Those who speak of the little old widow and poor people should know that you cannot operate a ministry of this magnitude with $5 $10 donations. This ministry has been responsible for more people coming to the Lord and receiving salvation than any other ministry because it is seen in almost every country in the world. It now reaches 300 million people in the Soviet Union who have been denied the word of God for 70 years, and, yes, they still want to hear him. The problem of pornography is one of the things he has hated the most and preached against so often, and it conquered him. If you read your Bible you will know this man's problem is an attack from Satan. Ask yourself, who does Satan attack? Those who do him the most harm. Please, for your own sake, do not condemn God's anointed.
AFTER MUCH thought and consideration I have come up with the perfect environment for all the Sierra Club members to live in. Why not let them live on the moon? There is no air to pollute, no trees to cut down, and no water to ruin. That would be the perfect home for them. Thank you.
I WAS JUST now reading in last Sunday's paper about people complaining about tattoos people have put on their bodies. My first love had my name in a tattoo put on his arm. I am proud of it to this day. When he dies part of me will go to his grave with him. Thank you.
YOU DON'T MISS the water until the well goes dry. Thank you, Speak Out.
BOY, THEY'LL BE dancing in the streets in old Illmo tonight. We got water. That's something else. Thank you.
I AGREE WITH the lady who wrote the letter published Thursday under the heading titled Public Mind. It is time for the Cape city officials to review the trash pickup agenda. The city residents are being treated unfairly. Thank you.
THIS IS FOR the people who are complaining about their school taxes. I also received my personal property tax and discovered that $98 of it was going for school tax. Cape schools are in session around 180 days, give or take a few days. As a parent of three children I figure that I am getting a pretty good bargain. For the price of a soda or cup of coffee I get six elementary schools, one seventh-grade center, one junior high, one fully accredited high school, one vocational education complex, plus bus service to and from school for my children. My children also have warm and lighted rooms in which to learn. They are taught by professional people with degrees in training that rival CPAs, lawyers, and other professionals. All of this for the price of a soda and cup of coffee. What a bargain. Thank you.
I WOULD LIKE to ask a question here. They're always showing children overseas starving to death. Why don't they show some children in the U.S.A. starving to death? We've got kids over here in just as bad a shape as those are over there. Thank you.
YOUR ARTICLE regarding the middle school in Indiana that has adopted a no-cut policy on athletic teams and other school activities is very timely as the Cape public school system is looking at necessary financial cutbacks in certain programs. Promoting a much stronger and needed intramural program would insure a larger participation from the student body and an overall better attitude as proven by the strength in numbers, which was the main message in the article.
