I AM a business owner on Broadway, and I would like to tell the district fair officials that if you're going to have a parade, please have someone pick up the litter after the parade is over with. I am getting tired of doing it myself.
I CAN'T believe the person covering the SEMO Fair parade didn't have anything better to take a picture of than this guy peddling his wares up and down the road. There were so many things going on in that parade and at the fair. Couldn't they have found something about local people? Some guy peddling a bunch of overpriced wares is not my idea of a front-page picture.
I WOULD like to compliment the Jackson school band directors and band members for that wonderful performance at the fair parade. They always are so impressive, so neat in appearance and their music is beautiful. We should all be very proud of all these fine directors and musicians. They are just great.
ON YOUR Opinion page, you asked whose fault it was that Princess Diana was killed. This one party said that it was an act of God and it was Princess Diana's time to go. Well, if you follow that kind of logic then, all this abortion that takes place are an act of God, and it's their time to go. I don't know why you would have printed that answer in the first place.
I WAS amused by the comments of former U.S. Sen. Paul Simon who wants things to be put on a nonpartisan basis in Washington. It always amazes me how politicians, and this is both Democrats and Republicans, want things to become nonpartisan when their party is no longer in the driver's seat. I do remember non-partisan way that Sen. Simon attempted to derail the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas along with assistance of the esteemed Anita Hill. So, Sen. Simon, don't tell me about nonpartisan.
