The ignorance card

They know how to give

A FRIEND was telling me how quick the Clinton/Gore team responded in giving aid, which is well and good because the people need it. However, I think there's a logical reason for it. This is their area of expertise. They don't what it is to work for money but they know how to give it away, especially other people's money.

Neighborhood schools

I FEEL that the school board has not been listening to the people of Cape Girardeau for a long time when they say they want neighborhood schools. We would appreciate them considering our feelings, because I don't believe the bond vote, at present, will pass.

Thanks for information

JUST WANT to say thank you to Peggy Scott for her excellent report in the Health section of the Southeast Missourian on teens teaching teens to just no say no to sex. Just want to say the community appreciates the coverage here, and many of the parents would like to say that we appreciate what the schools are doing to support families. Especially want to say thank you to Mitzi Generon on a program in the Jackson Middle School that has been going for several years. She's worked hard with it, and we just appreciate it.

Protect the innocent

THERE HAVE been several comments about inmates in jail. I'd like to make a comment that some of the inmates in jail have not been convicted and later found to be not guilty. Should they be punished? I don't think so. I think if you are found guilty of a crime, good, give them all the hell you want to. But the ones who have not been found guilty yet deserve some respect, because they might just be innocent people who could not afford a bail bondsmen. So think about that sometimes, people. It's not everybody who's in jail that is guilty, because only the convicted are really guilty.
