Some traffic-light suggestions
I HAVE an idea that may help stop accidents at traffic lights and also save some people some traffic tickets. The yellow caution light could be located a distance back from the intersection, the distance to be determined by traffic engineers. If the yellow light is on when you pass that location, you must prepare to stop. A red light will be on when you reach the intersection. Also drivers should put their turn signals on about 100 feet before making that turn, not just while turning. More advanced warning could prevent being rear-ended by the following vehicle.
U.S. needs to follow Canadian model
HOW LONG are the political figures like Jo Ann Emerson and Christopher Bond and John Ashcroft going to mislead us? They want to keep the Canadian health-care plan under the rug. They're very much misinformed. They say you wait in line. Like I stated before, you only wait in line on the Canadian plan if it's not a life-threatening matter. A friend of mine in Canada who used to be a pastor here in this country sent me a newspaper article. But the medical association here and the different political figures don't want to hear it. You may call it socialized medicine. Call it what you want. But we need a similar plan. The president has a plan that would really be a big help to all of us, particularly the working poor and the people on a fixed income. We all don't have a big nest egg put away. So there are people who are spending most of their small income on prescription drugs. We into the Social Security taxes for years and years, and it's a shame that a country this size doesn't have a health-care plan.
Nice treatment at license bureau
EVERYONE IS complaining about the Cape license bureau. I was there July 1. It took me 10 minutes. The little young lady on the far left was so nice. She said good morning with a big smile. She got all finished, she wished me good day with a smile. What more do people want? She could not treat me any better. There are just a lot of crabs out there. If you treat them nice, they will be nice to you.
Cry Me a River Campus.
I really liked the model
Of the River Campus.
We'll no longer doddle.
There'll be no more fuss.
Unjust law in Illinois
I THINK Illinois has a terrible law. It has a maximum/minimum sentencing law. They're taking innocent people and locking them up and trying to put them away for life on hearsay evidence. I think this is very cruel, wrong and unjust. Somebody needs to have something done about this.
Take two welds and call me
BOY I sure do miss the old doctors like Dr. Ringland, Dr. Campbell, Dr. Crowe. Used to be you could call them up and they'd right there or call you in something or try to take care of you. Now you call them, they want you to go to the emergency room. Well, I'm a contractor. I work in welding and this and that. So I guess if they call me for a job, I'll tell them to go to the emergency room.
It isn't a done deal yet
IS THE River Campus project a sure thing? Now I read in the paper where they want to run the street connecting the River Campus to the new bridge. Is the city going to pay for this, or is the college going to? The college doesn't need to think it will pass a vote on getting anymore sales tax from the citizens. They have gone crazy on building.
Take any job you can find
I'M CALLING in about all these people who say they can't find a job. This is ridiculous. I heard a good one the other day. A guy told me he was waiting for the right job to come along. That's ridiculous. What you do is you take any job you can find. There are jobs out there. All you have to do is go down the street until you find one and don't come home without one. Then you continually look for something better. There's always room for improvement. You can move up where you're at or you can pursue other interests. But while you're doing that, take anything you can get and bring in any amount you can. Anything's better than welfare.
