Missouri is No. 1 again! Of all the states, Missouri has the highest rate of bankruptcy.
The Cape Girardeau police really need to monitor North Fountain Street more, especially the 200 block, which is a one-way street. Numerous vehicles are constantly driving the wrong way to enter the Cape Mart Quick Shop instead of driving around the block. With the State of Missouri employees working on the 200 block, sooner or later someone is going to be hit by a car going the wrong way on a one-way street.
Even acknowledging that our national politics have become increasingly contentious, here's a development that is really odd: Two billionaire brothers are spending millions of dollars to try to persuade young Americans not to buy health insurance. What's up with that?
All the Republican Congress members who have been on the news the past few days say the president has to compromise. Oh yes, they have done that for the past seven to eight years. Or would they say that they haven't by saying no to everything that has come up. If we could have used the millions and millions of dollars they wasted on their primary and the past presidential election, we could have done so much more to provide health for the American people and created jobs to put people back to work.
Please people remember this the next election. Any congressional member who does not actively work to solve the dissension in Washington does not deserve to be re-elected.
Our Congress needs to be reminded they are supposed to be there to work and they should stop playing games. They are so out of touch with the regular Joe or Jane; they seem to believe they can continue their political jockeying with no consequences. Watch out! We may remember your behavior come next Election Day.
Great show! Kudos to everyone involved with "Legally Blonde." The dancing, singing and acting were terrific, as were the sets and lights. It's so full of life and energy. You all should be so proud.
The northeast park of Cape Girardeau along East Cape Rock Drive needs sidewalks. All these people walk to catch the bus on East Cape Rock Drive, and they either have to walk in the ditch or on the road. With the road being hilly and curvy, someone is going to get hit by a car. Seems like the city doesn't care about anyone else's neighborhood, except Broadway and the downtown area. Use some of that casino money to fix up other parts of town, besides downtown and Broadway.
Obamacare may or may not reduce your premiums, but it sure reduces it from what it would be in the future if it was not implemented.
Speak Out, letters
I was wondering why we don't have any letters and very little Speak Out comments. But wait, now I see. The Opinion page is too full of long-winded columnists so there's hardly any room for anything else. Their comments are so long, I get bored halfway through reading them. Please give us more letters and Speak Out. Much more interesting.
