Pray to God

We, as Christians, must call out to the Lord for help in this time of world chaos. We need His help and His guidance to help us through these problems we're having in the world, spiritual problems, and we must ask as Christians on our knees for help for our country and our world. That is our only hope.

Education funds

I would like to make a comment and a question on education in schools, that they all claim they need more tax money to further educate children. I would like to ask you educators now, especially you teachers, name me one state, one county where the schools have benefitted from getting new tax money, where the education has gone up? It is simply not there. But one thing that does go up, it seems like, is teachers' money that they make.

Street lights

This is in regard to street lights that burn almost all day long, every day. I don't think we need street lights burning when the sun is bright. In between Independence Street and Whitener, down by the utility deal. And the number on post -- it's got two numbers -- one's SW3509 and the other side of the post has got CG3508. Somebody needs to correct this. I don't think we need to be paying for all this electrical current to run these lights.

Mail center

Yes, just a comment about the postal service. To the powers above, or the Congress or Senate, or whoever, please help our postal service, especially our local service here in Cape Girardeau, stay here to service this area and not move on to St. Louis or wherever they're talking about. I've noticed in the last six months to a year a definite decline in the service in just the whole way the mail is done.

Nixon's words

I wonder how the police officer there in Ferguson is going to get a fair trial, now that our governor has opened his mouth and said that he should be prosecuted vigorously. In other words, he's got him tried and convicted before the poor guy even went to court to get a fair trial.

Scam telephone calls

It isn't only Missourians who should be aware of scam telephone calls. I have been getting calls from different numbers about credit cards and other things. When I learn of a different number, I write it down and quit answering that number. Then I got a call from a local number and answered it. It was the call about a credit card. They are still using this number and others. I have written 12 numbers that I refuse to answer. Yesterday, I got a local call from someone I know in Thebes. I answered it, and it was about needing the necklace to call for help if you fall. How could they have cut in on that personal phone line? I hope somebody can do something about this. They're driving me crazy.

Central Academy

The Cape Girardeau School Board changed the name of the Alternative Education Center to Central Academy. This was not to more accurately communicate the type of school it is, but rather to camouflage and obscure its function. I thought names are supposed to inform and enlighten, not cover-up. It is no wonder the level of cynicism the public has.
