Fireworks complaint

I live in the Rockview area east of Chaffee, Mo. I'd like to know what it takes to get somebody in the county government who knows what they're doing or cares about animals who are frightened away into hiding because of fireworks being shot off at night. The only help that was offered was through a young lady at the Scott County Sheriff's Department, and she was going to send an email to the patrol so if they happened to see a dog answering the description, they could call me.

Clock comment

I noticed recently in Speak Out someone mentioned that years ago someone hit the clock downtown. I knew the guy personally, and he didn't hit the clock, the clock wasn't there yet. He hit the pedestals around before the clock got there. He was checking out female joggers that morning, he wasn't watching where he was going. So it was his fault he hit those pedestals, and if you can't see something in the middle of the street that big, you don't need to be driving in the first place.

Unnecessary party

I think it was very inappropriate for Casey Anthony's defense team to have a Champagne party after the verdict came back as not guilty. There is a little 2-year-old girl that was killed and I feel that in some way her mother was responsible. I think it was just very unnecessary that they have this Champagne party.

Waller search

I'D like to say to the family of Jacque Waller, have they considered contacting an organization like Texas Equifax Services, the one that did the Natalee Holloway case and a couple other cases? Sometimes those places do that stuff free of charge or do it for a low fee. Maybe the community can hold a fundraiser.

Debt ceiling

IT'S interesting to me that no one really is mentioning that while President George W. Bush was in office there were seven debt ceiling increases that we didn't even hear about. It's disheartening to me that because of political reasons this particular one is being raised and drawing so much attention, whereas in the past there was no attention drawn to it at all. And under Republican leadership much more debt was increased. Please take a look at that and don't be so harsh in judging President Barack Obama.

Children suffer

I believe in helping those less fortunate, but it makes me sick to my stomach when I see these babies born to unmarried parents. Guess who pays the hospital and doctor bills? We need to limit one for free. If you can't afford them, don't have them. Birth control is readily available. It's the system that will pay their bills -- that's you and me. It's the children who will suffer. They are not a tax deduction.

Not compensated

A caller called with anger in his voice toward the victims of the spillway flooding. That doesn't make any sense. The victims didn't cause this flooding. It was too much water in the river and explosions from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. But put that aside. The farmers in the area have not been compensated. Any compensation that was done was more than 70 years ago, and so people who are alive and farming today didn't see any compensation.
