Loving Joe

I just wanted to say that I started getting the Missourian about six months ago. And I think Mr. Joe Sullivan's column is the thing I look forward to the most. He's a great writer.

Interesting angle

I noticed they keep taking all these flags down because they're saying stuff about slavery. Well, what about the pyramids? They were built by hundreds of millions of slaves.

Drone on

Yes, we're trying to have Fourth of July, and we've got someone flying a drone just watching everybody. You know, isn't that kind of invading privacy or something? That ought to be against the law here in Cape. People better start standing up and outlawing that kind of stuff.

Flag down

Yes, this is to the low lives that stole my American flag on the Fourth of July on County Road 206. Enjoy it. Display it proudly. You forgot the ground stake. You can get another one of those at Lowe's. I made that one, and I can make another one.

Gas prices

Yes, gasoline in Sikeston, Charleston and Jackson, specifically, is at $2.39. Interesting how the Cape Girardeau OPEC keeps overcharging us, strangling the market with their oligarchy powers. Thanks, guys. Appreciate it. Twenty cents a gallon is a significant impact in this ridiculous, horrendous, Obama-nomics economy. Give us a break.

The Republican way

They were wounded because of his war on lies. From the start to the finish it is a moneymaker in his books. Former President George W. Bush charged $100,000 to speak at a charity fundraiser for U.S. military veterans severely wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan, and former First Lady Laura Bush collected $50,000 to appear a year earlier, officials of the Texas-based Helping a Hero charity confirmed to ABC News. The former president was also provided with a private jet to travel to Houston at a cost of $20,000, the officials said.

Confederate flag

The vote to ban the display of the flag at the cemeteries came Tuesday evening after a brief debate on a measure funding the National Park Service, which maintains 14 national cemeteries, most of which contain graves of Civil War soldiers. Yes this is what we get from a Congress that only has sense enough to get maybe a 16 percent approval rating, and I would say that is 16 percent too high. Whip out our history. That flag is no more racial as anything. Actually, Mrs. Butterworth syrup is probably more racist, but this is what you can expect from this Congress.
