PARENTS, please be forewarned in regard to "Transformers 2." I am appalled at the sexual statements that are made and the words that are used. Go to pluggedinonline.com and read a review and know what you are taking your children to.
I'D like to comment on the guy who was talking about his noisy neighbors mowing their lawns. I work the night shift, so that means anyone around me who mows his yard during the day wakes me up. Would I tell him to not mow because I am sleeping? I mow my yard early in the morning because I don't want to die from the heat.
MICHAEL Jackson was a beautiful person. He taught us to live from the heart.
WHEN is immigration going to crack down on all the illegals in Cape Girardeau? It's hard enough to find a job without having to compete with people from other countries who come here with false IDs.
A big concern that I have with the proposed health-care bill is the idea that if a mandatory government medical system takes out the good kidney instead of the bad one, I won't have any recourse. You don't hear much about that in the op-eds. I don't recall too many successful lawsuits against the federal government. Currently, if the hospital screws up a surgery, the patient can get a lawyer and sue the hospital for damages. I don't see that happening to a government-run hospital. Then again, you might not get the surgery in the first place.
JOE Sullivan recently suggested disgraced South Carolina governor Mark Sanford hang in there, run for president and choose Paris Hilton as a running mate. That's not a bad ticket, but I would prefer Ensign-Lewinsky.
I know I speak for all readers of the Southeast Missourian in mourning the death of Michael Jackson. He was truly one of the greatest multitalented artists of our time.
NO doubt Michael Jackson's sudden death will touch more people's lives than Elvis' or Princess Diana's ever did. It is such a tragedy to lose one of the most gifted entertainers this world has ever known. This man is loved around the world.
THE trash problem started when the city took us down to just one pickup a week. I would gladly pay higher trash fee to get two pickups a week. People also need to be responsible for their trash.
BYRON York, a bastion of the base of dwindling right-wingery, recently had a column in the Southeast Missourian. In it, York yelped endlessly about what he alleged was the wrongful termination of an inspector general by the Obama administration. Since York had likely never heard of the inspector general before his justifiable termination, it goes to show how desperate the Republican right wing has become in its never-ending search for material to try to sink the Obama administration. This issue lacks what is called, in political parlance, legs. It's a nonstarter.
