I know what Dennis Hastert did was wrong, but I think the person that was basically extorting money out of Dennis Hastert should face jail time too, or penalties. He probably knew that Dennis Hastert didn't have that kind of money. Where did he think that kind of money was coming from? I mean, just because you know something about someone doesn't mean you have to extort money from them.
Yes, I think the way taxes ought to be passed in the future, instead of some voters have to pay for it and go vote for it, why not just start me a FundMe account? That way, if people want to fund a certain program, they can put as much money into it as they want.
I just saw on TV this morning, and reading in the paper, about where the airlines may go to smaller carry-ons. This is about the most asinine thing that they could be talking about, because that is not enforced now. We've been on international flights, flights in the United States, and there's no checking of the carry-ons. There's no control of the size of the carry-ons. The people get on with the big carry-ons -- if they get on early, they just keep going down the aisle until they can find an empty overhead and stick it in there. Others that have maybe the right size, can't find space because it's taken. So, if they're not going to enforce what they've got, why do they want to get new regulations? Why can't people act sensible?
The neighbors keep calling the cops on me because I have my car parked in my yard and they think my grass is a little too long. The cop told me that I'm not in violation until it is 10 inches long, which it's not even close to being. They also called the cops on me when I had my car parked on the street because it wasn't parked close enough to the curb. You people need to find a hobby. Seriously. I guess I don't understand how it affects your life that my car is parked in my yard. I park it there so my sons can play basketball in the driveway. I'm sorry that this upsets you so much that you have to call the cops on me. This is what happens when people have too much time on their hands and not much going on in their lives.
Watching the news, where they're sending more troops over to Iraq, the president is. They're saying there's not going to be any ground forces sent. I'm not quite for sure about that, because I know someone who's on reserve duty, and they've been told to have their bags packed and ready. And this is not somebody who can go over there and help with intelligence and be with training officers. It's somebody who would be on the ground. I don't think we're being given the whole story.
Would someone please explain to me just what those in law enforcement are supposed to do? In the current environment if they act, they are attacked and vilified by special interest groups and the media; if they do not act, they are attacked and vilified by special interest groups and the media. I am thankful no one close to me is in law enforcement. I do not understand how those with husbands and wives, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters-in-law enforcement deal with the knowledge that every time they report for duty, they are in danger of being killed in the line of duty or having their careers ruined when all they are trying to do is maintain law and order and go home alive at the end of their shifts to be with family and loved ones one more day.
