I was a volunteer at the veterans tent on May 17 and 18. I would like to thank you, Wings Etc. Grill and Pub in Jackson, for supplying boneless chicken wings, turkey wraps, chicken wraps and chips to all veterans who stopped by the veterans tent for a refreshing meal. Pepsi Co. donated Pepsi products and water. I would also like to thank all the other sponsors and the City of Cape Girardeau and airport manager Bruce Loy for their many hours of preparation. Thank you from a veteran.
I am an old coot, but I admire Mayor Harry Rediger's "out with the old, in with the new" progressive philosophy as mayor of Cape. Rediger may yet drag us kicking and screaming into the 21st century!
The Southeast Missourian and KFVS12 sports team coverage of Notre Dame sporting events is a little overboard. Monday night's KFVS12 sports had a segment about Notre Dame soccer, golf, tennis and baseball and nothing about other local schools that are playing in district tournaments. I mean within 30 miles of Cape, I think I speak for a great number of your listeners of KFVS12's, as well as the readers of Southeast Missourian. I wish you would back off the Notre Dame stories and segments a little and give other area schools coverage as well.
We have all heard the phrase: If you say it enough, many will believe it. This applies perfectly to Obama. George Soros took an unknown senator who voted "present" most of the time, instead of taking a stand, did nothing while in office but with George Soros' millions, went from an unknown to president. Obama has read the script that has been given to him for so long he now thinks he is all powerful, when he is a joke. He is still the do-nothing senator but has the clout of others to prop him up. In the upcoming election Soros and his "secret" backers are reported ready to spend nearly $40 million on the 2014 election. I thought Obama has always talked/bashed the rich Republican party. What hypocrisy.
Just for the record, Common Core Standards were not abolished in Missouri. They were consigned to a committee to study for a couple of years to make recommendations for possible changes. Translation? Common Core lives!
Why do we only talk about one embassy attack under Obama and Clinton's watch but we don't talk about the 13 embassy attacks that occurred under George W. Bush's? Or what about the Lebanese embassy attack in 1983 under Reagan's watch where 17 Americans died? Is that one taboo because of "Reagan"?
