I want to thank the person who found my purse at Aldi and returned it. I appreciate it very much. Thank you.
I had a couple of questions. How is the registration for the new landlord business license going? The deadline was April 15 and it is well past that, and I wondered if anyone was enforcing that or if that was only to get properties to break loose for developers to flip houses. I wonder if anyone is licensing any of these lawn mowing services in the city and questioning whether they have any liability insurance or ties to the city at all or responsibilities to the city.
Thanks to this newspaper for printing articles about Dr. Gosnell. If an abortion doctor gives birth to live babies and kills them after they are born, those are indeed living babies and what he has done is murder. Please do not allow people to murder babies after they are born.
In regards to the new roundabout being constructed in Cape Girardeau, I hear a lot of opposition to this project. I travel Highway 25 two times a day and go through the roundabout in Blomeyer, Mo., which will be three years old, and to this day there have been no major accidents or fatalities and traffic keeps flowing. I think it's a great thing. Years ago, when the new Highway 74 was built, I remember an elderly lady was killed at the traffic light. I think the plans for the new roundabout in Cape Girardeau are great. People run red lights and stop signs, but roundabouts keep traffic transitioning smoothly.
I drive on Lexington Avenue and Route W everyday. I don't think the roundabout is a good idea, and it will cause wrecks every day. It's not too smart to spend money on it. Think about the businesses, nursing homes and more on W. Big trucks and ambulances run out there daily. The biggest hazard are bicyclists.
I just suffered through the president's news conference. I concluded he is an innocent bystander. He takes no responsibility for anything. He owns the sequester, the economy and foreign policy. That is a joke.
I'm curious about how many of the people who choose what goes in the paper are Democrats, because everything seems so one-sided. The only thing more dangerous than a gun in a citizen's hand is a pen in the president's hands.
Since the state of Missouri has a surplus of funds, I would like to see that money returned to the hardworking taxpayers. It belongs to us. A tax refund would stimulate the economy and help the economic well-being of the entire state.
I'm a resident of Cape Girardeau, and I was driving and saw a sign for 55 million babies lost. It should read 55 million babies murdered. They weren't lost, they were murdered.
Thank you, police department, for coming up with a way of saving during these tough economic times, and thank you gas stations for going along with it.
Jackson residents, by closing the library, what will happen to the money in the property taxes? I hear water rates may go up, also. If no elimination is going to happen in the library tax, why can't any money go to offset any increase to the water department. Before any increase to city utilities, they should let the public know how much is held in reserve.
The president almost had me in tears when he told me how he will have to lay off police, fire, EMTs and preschool workers. Then I heard Egypt is getting $250 million and fighter planes when they're with the Muslim Brotherhood and will likely get used against us. If he wants to make those cuts because of the sequester, that's his business.
