Major kudos to the SEMO Sundancers. They are ranked eighth nationally and will take part in the finals for the first time since 2007. History will show that the SEMO Sundancers led the way in the revival and eventual domination of all SEMO sports.

Split decision

To ward off another nasty east side-west side split similar to the dispute over the location of the Show Me Center, I propose half be built in downtown Cape and the other half near the West Park Mall. It might mildly inconvenience some who had to travel from one to the other to play pickleball (east side) and pingpong (west side), but it would be worth avoiding a long, drawn-out argument as to where to build a new sports complex.

Dropping bombs

Sen. Tom Cotton asserted that the United States could destroy Iran's nuclear infrastructure in a several-day bombing campaign. Yes, and it would be another Iraq that Bush claimed victory just after a few days, but we ended up losing 4,000 American lives and still have the fall out of his war. You wouldn't be hearing them do this talk if they had to put their boots on the ground. The American people have had to pay dearly for the Iraq War and are still having to pay. War, war, war is all they think of as long as it is someone else holding the guns and getting killed. This is not the leadership we need.

Wild west

A Milwaukee driver was fatally shot, along with a teenager at the scene, after he hit a toddler who had run into the street, police said on Monday. Thanks to the Republican legislators and the NRA, our country has become the old Wild Wild West again.

Van nonsense

I needed a good chuckle this morning and got it when I read that Hillary Clinton left Sunday on a road trip from her home in Chappaqua, New York, in a van headed for Iowa, home of the nation's first presidential caucuses, and it was her idea. This just shows how gullible she thinks the American people are. She's just a good 'ole gal, just one of us in our modest minivan. Give me a break!

Hillary response

Hillary Clinton announces she is in the running for president. All the Republicans can do is try to find fault with her. They can't tell what they would do to help America, because they will not. They are out for one thing: to get rich and make the 1 percent richer at the cost of the poor and middle class. They are out to destroy the middle class and poor at all costs.

Campaigns

The election is two years away. Yet we have elected politicians that are now campaigning and not serving the electing people they are supposed to be helping. They should not be able to campaign till six months before the election. Even then, it doesn't take that long to tell how crooked they are. What a waste of money. However, they are all bought and paid for by big business and millionaires. America has been sold out to the rich. It is no better there than Russia, if you really look at it.

Keeping track

I want to thank the Missourian for publishing the congressional votes. I have learned so much from the column and how our Missouri senators and representatives vote on issues. They do work hard and make important decisions that don't always make the broadcast news.
