I was shocked to see that the MPAA rating in "The Hunger Games" is PG-13. What a travesty.
IT seems that motorists are not paying attention to people in electric wheel chairs. I have almost been run over four or five times. I've gotten to the point where I have tied yellow bags and I have a bright red bag on the back of my chair to make myself more noticeable. I would appreciate it if the motorists in Southeast Missouri would pay more attention to the handicapped who may not have any other way to get from point A to point B.
THE Reynolds House is a historic house. Fix it or tear it down. It has been sitting there for 20 years, and it is not fixed yet.
KATIE Couric pops up on ABC's "Good Morning America" and is announcing the news these days. I guess the $17 million she made from CBS wasn't keeping her warm at night.
I know a Democratic couple and both of them supported abortions. They had a daughter and now the daughter has had her seventh abortion. Except this time when the doctor did the abortion he accidentally snipped something. Now she can't have babies and now these parents are upset, but think of how many babies she has killed. She has killed seven of them.
PERSONALLY I feel sorry for big oil companies. I think we need to give them at least another $4 billion or $5 billion in tax breaks and maybe they won't hurt us at the pump so badly. Just kidding.
WE are a country of whiners. We cry about high gas prices and wring our hands. And we complain about high insurance costs and how lousy our insurance really is. Then we put politicians in office that only worry about their next election and where their PAC money is coming from. Whom do we blame? Well, let's try looking in the mirror.
I want to thank PWSD No. 5 for quadrupling my monthly water bill. Just another fine example of big government sticking its nose where it doesn't belong.
THE U.S. Postal Service has been touting its plan to close hundreds of mail distribution centers (including Cape Girardeau's), claiming it will save $2.6 billion annually. However, a secret study was recently revealed under testimony to the Postal Regulatory Commission. The Postal Service's own study showed that it would lose $5.2 billion in revenue. This would, of course, make their financial problems much worse rather than alleviating them.
I just want to thank the newspaper for printing Paul Greenberg's April 5 column titled "Another line crossed." Amen. He said it all right there.
