Last week as I was driving into Cape on Route K. I had a flat tire. While waiting on roadside service, a lady stopped and asked if I needed help. A little later, a young man stopped and offered to change my tire. I call them "Road angels." Thank you, and God bless.
Fatherly advice
I saw something very disturbing out shopping today. This young father was on to his young son so bad, so bad. And when he turned his back, I looked at the little boy and his mother, and they were both cringing, like they were scared to death of this man. To this young father I say: I know it's not easy to be a young father, but you need to lighten up, learn how to have fun with that young boy. He couldn't have been more than 6 or 7. Learn to be a father to him so he'll grow up to be a good man, not end up in a prison somewhere. Think about it.
In today's paper on the use tax, if the people vote it in, they will not lower our property tax. Here a while back when they were advertising, if people would pass it, it would make our property tax go down. Now they're saying they will not cut the property tax, which is nothing unusual for this Cape, Cape County or Cape city. When our property value went down, they kept our high taxes on our property. They promised two years ago that they would, but they didn't get it in time. They left the taxes high on our property, when the values stopped. Now, they promise you one thing to get you to vote yes for it, and then they turn around and they do not do what they do.
The city is blowing through over $2 million a year of casino taxes on things like doggy parks, and the county commissioners have raised our taxes twice while giving themselves raises and buying big-screen TVs for their chambers. Now they want us to vote for a use tax. Don't they waste enough of our money as it is?
