Hillary is qualified
TO THE person who said Hillary Clinton is not qualified to be a U.S. senator: She is a lawyer, and she has worked in political offices. She has been doing politics since she was a teen-ager. She also worked in many law firms.
Day starts with prayer
I MAY not always agree with political stance the newspaper takes. However I do really appreciate the prayer on the Opinion page everyday. It gets my day off to really good start. Thanks a lot.
Looking for raw power
IT IS becoming increasingly clear that the Bush army is not interested in knowing or following the will of the people. It is interested in one thing alone: the gaining and exercising the raw power of the presidency.
No widows, unless ...
NO WIDOW should take over for her husband if he is a congressmen or senator. That doesn't make them qualified. This is ridiculous. Only if they are Republican -- that automatically makes them qualified.
Ask for assistance
MY OPINION of voters who have trouble with the voting ballot is that they should ask for help from the judges at the poll. They are more than willing to assist. They do it all the time.

Take down the signs
THE ELECTION is over. It is time to remove the signs.
He has experience
WE DON'T know the outcome of the presidential recount yet. If the Democrats lose, it will their own fault. They should have sent Daley to Florida. His family has a long legacy of stealing elections.
Up to the courts now
THE JACKSON Police Department and Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department are doing a good job of getting criminals off the street. They just arrested an 18-year-old juvenile whose court date is coming up. I hope the judges and prosecuting attorney will follow through and not let the police department's good job be in vain.
Winners don't complain
TO THE person who wants the popular vote to prevail: Did anybody complain when Clinton did not get the popular vote? Some voters in Florida said the ballot was confusing. When it was going Gore's way, they weren't confused or complaining. Both sides agreed on the way the ballot was printed. Gore did not even win his home state.
TV caused this fiasco
IT'S TIME the television channels' coverage of the election cease. They are too competitive with each other and rush to judgment, which is irresponsible and places Americans in a fiasco.
Not just in Florida
JESSE JACKSON is a fibber, to put it mildly. He was asked why he was in Florida. He said to see that nothing went wrong with the vote. He said it's not about Bush, not about Gore. It's strictly about the Latinos and the blacks and the Jewish people having their rights denied them. What about all those Latinos, Jewish and black folks in New York? If it happened in Florida, it had to happen in New York too.
Message is clear
HEY, AL Gore: What part of "I lost" don't you understand?
