Debate helps decide

I HAVE been in a dilemma not knowing who to vote for November for our next president. But after the debate Tuesday night and Gore's noisy rudeness when Bush was trying to speak and his negativity, Bush would definitely get my vote.

Duwe's hooey

THE FOLLOWING Speak Out poem was inspired by Democratic state Sen. Jerry Howard's refusal to back down in the face of a barrage of dirty tricks and the backfire effect which led to the resignation of Republican bigwig Daryl Duwe:

Mr. Howard is not a coward,

and he will win his race.

Daryl Duwe is full of hooey

and was put in his place.

Bad Republicans

I WATCHED the debate Tuesday night, if you want to call it a debate. The Democrats started Social Security back in Franklin Roosevelt's time. Republicans fought it tooth and nail just like Bob Dole. We would have no Medicare, no Social Security if it wasn't for the Democrats. Republicans have been trying for years to abolish the Department of Education. They say we don't need it, but who is the one talking education now? The Republicans. Who is talking about saving Social Security? The Republicans. They would love to get their hands on that $270 billion surplus. They would love to give it to the rich oil companies. It makes me sick when people like that stand up there and talk about education and these other benefits for people when they know that they are not going to do a thing. They are just lying to try to get back in the White House because they were kicked out of it because they were stealing the country blind. And then they made a career out of it. If the people are stupid enough to vote and get the lying devils back in the White House again, I feel sorry for this country.

Stiff as a board

I WATCHED the presidential debate, and Gore comes across as about the dullest character programed by his liberal flunkies. This man is a mannequin, stiff as aboard without the liberal Democrat machine behind him. He couldn't be dog catcher. Who would want this habitual liar who flip-flops on every issue in charge of our country's future? We had eight years of Clinton lies.

Learn to economize

TO THOSE who say providing a good education for our children is our top priority. Haven't you learned yet that more and more money doesn't always mean better education? Why don't you check with the Kansas City and St. Louis schools? The economy may be great for some occupations, but for some farmers it is the pits. We have learned to economize, and so should the Jackson School District.

Go chop wood

I COULDN'T care less if the people in the Northeast run short or heating oil this winter. The vast majority of the people they elect are ultra-liberal. Because of this, there is not a single oil refinery and no pipelines in the entire region. Their environmental laws and regulations make it impossible to build such things. Aren't these the politicians who also led the charge to close the nation's prime oil-bearing land to exploration and drilling? There hasn't been a new refinery built in the nation for over 10 years because of the red tape and overregulation enacted by the Northeast politicians. If these Yankees are dumb enough to elect these people, then they can chop wood this winter.

What's to attack?

OF COURSE Gore won the debate (according to the media). It was evident that George W. was more knowledgeable and audience-pleasing than Gore if not more so, and he made a point of saying he was taking the high road and would not attack Bush's character. Hey, Al, what is there to attack?

It wasn't fixed

AS FOR the woman having to pick up cans along the ditches to pay for her prescription medicine that the Democrats are flaunting, why hasn't the problem been solved in the last eight years when they could have done something about it? That woman's plight had best been kept under cover.
