IF CLINTON and Gore are so concerned about working people and farmers, then why are they willing to flood farmers out along the Missouri River and hurt workers' jobs at shipping companies? Are working people a priority as Gore claims, or is that another big lie?
THE CALLER who claimed the Clinton-Gore administration is responsible for what he called the depressed farm economy is just one more example of how conservatives in Southeast Missouri will go to any extreme to blame Clinton-Gore administration for any and every problem. Just ask some of the big agricultural corporations if there are not plenty of profits being made in the agricultural industry. It is the large-scale corporate farmers who are destroying the small family farmer, not the policies of the Clinton-Gore administration.
WHEN ARE the police going to rid this city of the noise-polluting boom-box cars? There is a law. Are the police afraid to stop and cite these violators? There is one that has been outside my house for an hour.
I WATCHED the debate. Al Gore is such a dull boring drone he didn't keep my interest for even 30 seconds, not even 20 seconds. But Bush looks like he is speaking from his heart. He is sincere.
THE REASON the government surplus is the largest in the history of America, as Gore states, is because Clinton and Gore have taxed half of the working man's income. No wonder there is a huge government surplus. Working people need tax relief so they can save for their future and their children and not have to rely upon the government to provide all their needs, which is their money to begin with. They should say how their own money is spent, not the autocratic government agenda. That is Marxism.
IT IS so true this is the most crucial election in our lifetime. It is socialist, autocratic, huge government control versus integrity and hope for a more united America and a return to decency and morality giving Americans an example of true spirit, not posturing like Gore.
I THOUGHT I would choke when Al Gore said this poor women came all the way in her Winnebago to the debate. Poor woman. If she is one of the poor people he always speaks about, wow! I could never afford a Winnebago.
THANK YOU, Larry Davis, for your honest and insightful letter about Proposition A. The glut of billboards on Missouri roads is a disgrace. And the false statements the greedy industry people are using to scare citizens are also a disgrace. I prefer not to buy from businesses that clutter our highways with billboards. I only hope Missourians will renew their pride in their state and vote yes on Proposition A to stop the visual degradation of our highways.
MONDAY NIGHT Pat Buchanan and Ralph Nader were on "Larry King Live," and they did very well. Nader said he was going to try to get into the debates by asking someone to give him a ticket. I watched the debate of Gore and Bush. It was boring. But I heard on C-SPAN that a college student gave Nader a ticket, but they turned Nader away at the door. God help our country.
GORE WAS so arrogant during the debate. He tried to talk all the time. He even talked over Jim Lehrer. That sure turned me off. How will he get along with other countries' presidents. I also wonder about Joe Lieberman not working from Friday through Saturday because of his religion. Other countries know about this. Suppose we have a crisis. Where will our country be if something should happen to our president? What would we do?
