I UNDERSTAND that Charles Manson is coming up for parole soon, and I was wondering if anyone at my university had considered inviting him here to speak. I know that it would be controversial but so are the Klan, Black Panthers, Nazis and others of that caliber. Whether we like it or not, it is a part of our history.
I DON'T consider it too much of a problem to decide between creationism and evolution. They both require a tremendous amount of faith.
I WANT my Social Security to remain in a fund that's going to be safe in case another 9-11 happens. I don't want something to happen to the stock market and watch my funds go down.
I'M SO tired of hearing about a woman's choice. The woman is blessed by the miracle of bringing life in the world. She shouldn't have the choice of taking a life. As far as I'm concerned, she can do whatever else she wants to with her body, but not the baby's. No one has to get an unsafe back-alley abortion. Pregnant women can give away their children and save lives. Why is it the baby has to accept the death because the mother makes a mistake?
IF WE want to eat, we should pay the farmer his fair share. Who can think of anything more important than our food supply? It is very sad when government says what may be planted and where. People should have freedom to choose. It seems like we don't have that anymore.
ALL OF these complaints about fast food being bad is so absurd. I eat fast food a few times a week. And I am fat -- not because of the fast food, but because of my busy schedule. Fast food is a convenience for those who are on the go all the time. No one told me I had to eat that food. Until I have the time to join a gym, I will just have to super-size my pants along with my fries.
I WANT to thank Paul Fliege for helping me chase that owl out of my attic and for fixing that vent cover. I know that owl will find it cozier out in the wilderness instead of making a mess of my things. It is just so nice to have such a caring younger generation that really helps senior citizens.
DOES ANYONE in Cape Girardeau know that the left lane is the passing lane? If you are in the left lane, you should be going faster than the people in the right lane.
I AM outraged after reading that Medicare is going to pay for Viagra and similar drugs, but not for blood and PSA tests more than once a year for a man with terminal cancer. In other words, Medicare will pay for a man's good times, but not to save his life. What kind of insane reasoning is this? If this doesn't break Medicare, I can't think of anything that would. These people need a lesson in common sense.
IN THE 2004 election, only 60 percent of eligible U.S. voters voted. For most of them, the nearest polling place was a few blocks away. How can anyone criticize an Iraqi in Cape Girardeau for not driving four hours to vote in an election for a country he no longer lives in?
