GOOD deeds abound, as I experienced firsthand recently at the movie theater. When I was told (yet again) my passes were not eligible due to yet another unwritten loophole, a lovely lady with a blonde ponytail and white jacket paid for our tickets. I was so overcome with emotion I could barely thank her. After I regained my composure, I approached her in the concession line and explained I am a single mom and truly appreciated her generosity. She said, "I know. I was a single mom once, too. God put me here today and told me to do this." Thank you, Sandy; you are an earthly angel. I can hardly wait until the day I can pay forward your kindness.
I live in Perryville; we have a roundabout here where U.S. 61 and Highway 51 cross, and it works wonderfully. Traffic moves really well all day.
I am not Catholic, but the person who feels the Catholic Church is shoving its views down others' throats when it doesn't want to provide birth control as part of its insurance coverage is missing a huge point. Why is it the church that is doing this? Isn't the "other side" doing the same thing by trying to force the church to use its money in a way that it feels is immoral and is contrary to how it interprets God's word? The employee knows he or she is taking a job with a Catholic organization and knows the Catholic Church's stand on this issue. And still he or she takes the job. The choice is the employee's as to whether to take a job with those conditions.
