Spread the blame

EVERY NOW and then someone says Rush and David Limbaugh demean and insult people who do not agree with them. The Limbaughs spend a vast part of their radio program and newspaper articles generally damning Democrats as a whole. Much of their rhetoric is negativism at its best. I suggest to those who see through their hate and disagree with them to look at the Southeast Missourian. The chairman, publisher, co-president and editor allow and promote this demeaning and hate of fellow citizens, especially in David Limbaugh's case. They let the articles be published.

Drug's effects

ZOLOFT IS not a bad drug. It is quite helpful to me. I've been taking the drug for two years. Perhaps the reason some of the children taking the drug commit suicide is because they were prescribed a drug as a cure-all. A drug alone does not cure bad behavior or make school or home life different.

Use pistol range

I ENJOY the Apple Creek shooting range and thank the Missouri Conservation Department for establishing it years ago. The last several times I have grown frustrated at the number of people who fire pistols on the rifle range while the pistol range is empty or slightly being used. This tends to back up the short rifle range and is not fair to all individuals. The next time you want to shoot pistols, go to the pistol range and abide by the rules. Make the outing enjoyable for all, not just yourselves.

It takes awhile

A COUPLE of years ago, we started receiving a wide assortment of prayer rugs and holy cloth from St. Matthew's Church. I contacted the Better Business Bureau ,which told me it could not evaluate the charity because it refused to allow the BBB to examine its financial records. I began sending the literature back. In each letter, I asked to be removed from the mailing list. It took almost a year for that charity to finally leave us alone.

Cheaper goods

I AM tired of hearing that companies who have moved factories overseas get tax breaks. The reason they moved is because of union wages. Unions said workers should be paid more and receive better benefits. Companies realized they would need to increase prices or produce cheaper goods. Companies can produce goods overseas and ship them back here for far less than producing them here. If greedy unions would not have pushed for such large increases, you would see all those factories still in the United States. These companies are not getting tax breaks.

Don't waste money

DEAR MAYOR Knudtson, please do not waste any of Cape Girardeau's money on the airport. The airport is never going to be a success. The airport manager wants an airport consultant. Use some of the surplus money for tourism to clean up the streets and make some nice entrances to Cape Girardeau. You will get more back for your bucks.

Not a good showing

I AGREE with the comment about Interstate 55. It has many potholes and is getting worse. Can we not fix the interstate, or do we just not want to? What is the Show Me State showing? Rough roads and littered interstates.

Doing the right thing

PRESIDENT BUSH saw a country that wanted to be free, so he is helping to free it. Bush sees two countries trying to get nuclear weapons that could wind up blowing up in your back yard, so he will try to stop them. When Democrats were in the White House, they said Social Security was doomed, but did nothing. President Bush is trying to fix it, and the Democrats say there is nothing wrong with it. Do all Democrats have that short a memory? I would give up all of my Social Security knowing that my country and my children are free of a nuclear threat from some crazy country. God bless our country, and God bless President Bush.
