** Road repair

I wish they would re-blacktop Bloomfield Road, if they aren't going to widen it, like they were supposed to a couple years ago. My car shakes, rattles and rolls every time I have to drive Bloomfield Road.

** NAFTA repeal

If President Obama wants to create more jobs in factories, why doesn't he repeal NAFTA? Remember? That's the one Bill Clinton signed, said it would create jobs in America, where they would manufacture parts down there and be assembled here. The first car that was manufactured in factory with assembly was the PT Cruiser. That's the first thing that left the United States.

** Medicare, Missouri

Though I support Medicaid expansion in Missouri, I think the ongoing activist efforts in this area to increase voter backing for the proposal in order to get the Missouri Legislature to go along sadly falls into the category of a quixotic quest.

** Ask insurance

All the commercials advertising prescription drugs "you should ask your doctor" for, should really say "ask your insurance provider" for.

** Wage drop

Poor millenialls. The median income of full-time workers in Missouri has (adjusted for inflation) fallen by at least $2,000 per year.

** Bush presidency

Seems like Krauthammer, Limbaugh, Will and Charen all have amnesia. I remember the "W" years. They weren't near as good as now. But like birds, they flock together.

** Senior center funding

The fact that area funding for senior citizen centers may soon be cut is the most sickening and sinister thing I've ever read in the Southeast Missourian and should lead to some very serious soul searching.

** Seniors and basketball

Several area schools allow senior citizens to attend high school basketball game for free. Poplar Bluff, Advance and Sikeston are just three of many examples. Hopefully, Cape's schools will take a cue from these other schools and reward seniors who are such rabid basketball fans that they are willing to fight the wintertime elements so as to enjoy seeing some roundball all in person.
