I AM glad Medicare is going to cover the cost of Viagra. My husband is on Viagra. Being 29 years old and facing a condition like erectile dysfunction is difficult. It was a difficult situation for us to work through. It is a real medical condition that medication can help.
COMPLEX SYSTEMS involving coded information, such as DNA, with purpose and functionality are only observed in designed or intelligently created structures. The coded information in DNA is similar to trillions of letters forming billions of words in a book. But letters and words without a language are meaningless. The word "jhgyrdk" is nonsense unless there is a language that uses that code. Language is a complex, high-level function, only known to be the result of intelligent design. Not only is the information in DNA unimaginably complex, the rules that govern the language that interprets the DNA is unimaginably complex as well. Looking at DNA only, it is far easier to believe that an intelligence far beyond our capabilities formed life and gave life its spark.
THE PROPOSED budget cuts are just proposals. There is a process the budget must go through. If you support a program proposed to be cut, contact your legislators. Grumbling and complaining seem to be the norm, but it is those who take action who see results. If you do nothing, don't expect good programs to remain while those that are abused get greater funding.
DAVID LIMBAUGH'S continuous assertions that the rich pay a higher percentage in taxes is ridiculous. David Johnston has meticulously researched the subject in his book, "Perfectly Legal." The rich pay a higher percentage of the income that they report, but billions are stashed away through loopholes and trusts that never get reported as income. Johnston estimates the actual percentage the very rich pay to be around 19 percent, but it's undoubtedly much lower because of the huge amounts hidden in offshore accounts. The rich hardly pay a pittance for Social Security because of the tax ceiling, while every single dollar of the average working person is taxed. There is a class war all right, and its being waged on the middle class and working poor of this country.
MANY WHO voted for miserly Gov. Matt Blunt are begging us to cajole him into reversing course on some draconian spending-cut recommendations. Sorry. We tried to tell you.
THE CHANCES that Blunt and Bush spending cuts will come to fruition is zero. Both of them know that to be the case. That's why, when they reverse course and restore their proposed cuts, they'll look like good guys.
