OUR son has a rare disease call ataxia telangiectasia. A-T is a rare, fatal neurodegenerative disease. It is like having cystic fibrosis, cerebral palsy, immune deficiencies, muscular dystrophy and cancer all rolled into one. For the last four years about a week before Christmas he has received a letter in the mail without any return address. Inside the envelope there is always $200 with a note telling him merry Christmas. We would like to thank whoever this is from, because it is a special gift to our son. Also, for graduation in May he received another $100. Just wanted to let everyone know how thankful he is and what a special person you are for your gift. You are his special angel at Christmas. God will always bless you in many ways.
I would like to share the following quote by Mahatma Gandhi to the members of the deer committee: "I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man." Although there may be a serious issue in regard to deer overpopulation, I believe, as a concerned Cape Girardeau resident, that hunting is not an option. I always feel that the human's natural instinct to a population problem is extermination. I am confident that with today's advances in technology that there is a more humane way to relocate or painlessly eliminate the excess deer in Cape Girardeau.
THE Republican Congress is a joke. They have to have something to give middle-class Americans the extended tax break and extend unemployment pay. However, they didn't have to have one thing to give all the millionaires and big corporations the tax breaks when Bush was in.
THREE out of four Americans believe that government should not spend more than it brings in. The government should balance its spending with income. That works for the federal government, state and county.
ISLE of Capri, I am so excited about you coming to Cape Girardeau. I have been watching ever since it was approved and you started building. I drive by the site to see how it is coming along, I read the articles in the paper about what's going on, and recently there was this event and it was going to be so exciting and we were so looking forward to it. We got there and it was quite the let down. We were told we should go in and sign this white board and see ya. I just think it could have been a whole lot more. Where is the excitement? Where is the enthusiasm? Let's keep Cape Girardeau people interested in the Isle of Capri.
WHEN will these neoconservatives stop? They've had their day and nearly taken this country over the precipice. However, they continue to carry on. For example, columnist Charles Krauthammer seems to think it's time to bomb Iran.
