THIS is to the people who did not pay their bill at a restaurant Friday night. Did you realize the server had to pay for your bill, which took all the money the server had made that night? Stolen meal

THIS is to the people who did not pay their bill at a restaurant Friday night. Did you realize the server had to pay for your bill, which took all the money the server had made that night? If you could not afford a meal, why did you order such an expensive one? This was theft and is no different than if you had stolen a billfold or broken into a car.

Prison jobs

PRESIDENT Obama wants to close Guantanamo because it makes us look mean to the people who do not offer us anything but criticism. To do this, he will buy or lease an unused prison in his home state and make a $250 million investment in it to make it as safe as Guantanamo, which we already have. He says this will create 3,000 new jobs to control 200 prisoners, jobs that are already being done quite well by the military police at Gitmo. What will 3,000 federal jobs cost each year? Please help me understand why this is supposed to be a well-thought-out, reasonable idea in this economy.

Having doubts

HOW shocking that one would have serious doubts about the credibility of the White House. There have always been doubters from both wings of all parties. As always, most of today's doubters have their own agendas which, almost without exception, are and have been inspired by selfishness, greed, the bandwagon and simple ignorance.

Homework threat

AS a parent, I strongly oppose the decision of an area school to drop homework assignments. I realize that there has never been any correlation shown between the amount of homework assigned and scores on achievement tests. Still, if I don't have the "Finish your homework first!" threat to hold over my kid's head, he'll become even more of a hellion than he already is, and it will be the fault of the school.
