I TOOK some cat Christmas items to Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary in Jackson. I saw a lot of adorable kittens and cats needing a nice home. Go to Safe Harbor get a pet to be a part of your family. It will warm your heart long after Christmas has passed.
JACKSON SHOULD get behind Joyce Hungate at the Revival Center. She is doing nothing but good. I have had connections with her and the people who live there. They are nice and courteous. She is strict on the rules there. Churches and everyone, please support Joyce and her efforts to help people. You might be homeless someday also.
I WAS absolutely astonished at the Missourian's front-page story with pictures and names of children who were at the homeless shelter in Jackson. What effect does this have on those children at school or on the playground when other children recognize them and start making fun of them? How ridiculous.
I WOULD like to comment on Matt Sanders' column on "Holiday music beyond the orchestras." It's a disgrace to have someone that ignorant claiming that he's the arts & leisure editor for this paper. Sam Blackwell was a knowledgeable reviewer of all genres of music. That cannot be said for Matt. If the paper were honest, it would let him be a reviewer of popular music. He has absolutely no background, which he shows in his article, to comment on classical music. When he says orchestras are about as exciting to him as watching a documentary on construction of municipal water systems, he is revealing his ignorance. It is not his fault he was never exposed to the classics, but we surely don't have to put up with his comments about it in the paper. And if the Missourian would be honest, it would do something to remedy that.
MY MEN'S group was volunteering in front of Wal-Mart this morning ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, and at 8 o'clock I went out and rang the bell. A nice woman brought the bell ringers hot chocolate and wished us a merry Christmas. There are some good people in this world. Thank you to the woman who brought us hot chocolate.
I THINK if Hillary Clinton wants to get elected president in 2008, all she has to do is say that she is going to make Bill Clinton the secretary of state. He is such a brain and so politically correct that I think it would absolutely kill the people that are against her. He is such a smooth operator that I think it would assure her the election.
