THANK YOU to the person in Cape Girardeau who in charge of getting the traffic lights working. Thank you so very much for getting the new lights at Siemers Drive and Bloomfield Road and Bloomfield and Mount Auburn Road working. They're working great. Now, can you talk to the Missouri Department of Transportation about getting the lights fixed at Bloomfield and Kingshighway? When you're eastbound or westbound on Bloomfield, you sit and sit and sit and the traffic lights will not change because they stay green on Kingshighway. Something needs to be done. The sensors are not working. Can you please get MoDOT to get these fixed? Thanks again.
I DON'T understand why it can't be known what superintendent David Scala and Brenda McCowan did to warrant dismissal and being placed on leave. Not releasing this information leaves everyone thinking they did something criminal, causing them to be removed from the school system. All this is only causing speculation of wrongdoing.
THE PRINCIPAL at Central Junior High School blames the home environment for poor learning skills with regard to No Child Left Behind. I am single, considered poverty level and could qualify for free lunches, but I won't because my child would be stereotyped. My child makes the honor roll. The school district needs to get teachers back in the classroom instead of all the meetings. This week a teacher had a in-service meeting and brought her small child with her. I wish someone from the TV station or newspaper could pose as a student and see what really goes on at Cape Girardeau schools. My child makes the honor roll because of computers and a mom who cares.
I CAN tell you as a person who was abused by two husbands that you don't tell anybody because you're too ashamed. You don't go anywhere because you know if you do, he's going to get you when you get home and he's going to hit you and abuse you even harder. These ex parte orders do nothing to protect a person. If a man is violent, a piece of paper is not going to do a woman any good. I suggest abused women pack up, leave the state and find another home.
RICK SPRINGFIELD did a benefit concert for Sahara Aldridge last December, then came to Cape Girardeau again for her celebration of life. Now Rick Springfield has the No. 1 album at PMac Music here in Cape Girardeau. The fair board should pay attention to this and bring him to the SEMO District Fair. Rick Springfield fans travel well.
I DON'T know about everyone else, but I sure feel safer now that the federal government is going after Barry Bonds. First they got that desperado Martha Stewart, now Bonds. I love to see my tax dollars at work.
SOMEONE SAID he was disappointed that there were empty spots in the lights in the Cape County Park North. Well, there's your opportunity. Go to work and fill some of those lights. Don't gripe about it. Jump in there and help out. They need new displays. You could be one of the people who do it.
I WOULD like to have something done about the markings on the highway. Put some white lines along the edge of the highway coming out of Jackson heading west. You cannot see where the edge is, especially if it's raining. Even the young people are complaining about it. Somebody is going to have a wreck one of these days.
